Kriaritsi, Klimataria i Tigania – tropske plaže Halkidiki

Otkrijte belu pesku i prozirno more „tropskog trojca” južne Sithonije

Down in the far south of Sithonia, near the village of Sikia, you’ll find three beaches that look almost Caribbean on the right day: Kriaritsi, Klimataria and Tigania. Fine, pale sand, water so clear you can count the pebbles on the seabed, and a wild, open horizon towards the Aegean make this corner of Halkidiki feel very different from the busier resorts further north. Halkidiki.info – туристички водич за Ситонију, Касандру и Атос and our Наш локални тим скипера, туристичких агената и инструктора роњења са више од 20 година искуства на Халкидикију ту је да вам помогне. have been coming here for over 20 years, and we’ve seen these coves in all moods – from glass-calm family days to big-swell adventures.

Gde su ove „tropske” plaže i kome odgovaraju

All three beaches – Kriaritsi, Klimataria and Tigania – sit on the south-eastern edge of the Sithonia peninsula, in the wider Sikia area. They face the open Aegean, with views across to Mount Athos on a clear day. It’s a wilder stretch of coast than places like Nikiti, Vourvourou or Neos Marmaras, with fewer hotels and more scattered holiday homes, campsites and small guesthouses.

They are best suited to:

  • Beach lovers who don’t mind a bit of rough road to reach clearer water and fewer crowds.
  • Couples and friends looking for dramatic scenery and that “tropical” photo look.
  • Families with older children who are comfortable swimming in occasionally wavy conditions.
  • Nature lovers and campers who prefer a less organised, more natural coastline.

If you prefer fully organised resorts where everything is on foot – supermarkets, pharmacies, bars, beach promenades – you may be happier basing yourself in places like Polichrono, Hanioti & Pefkohori and visiting the south on a day trip. You can read more about those easier-going areas in our guide to Polichrono, Hanioti & Pefkohori: Easy-Going Resorts with Everything on Foot and Boat Tours.

Kako stići do Kriaritsi, Klimataria i Tigania

The common factor with these three beaches is that you’ll need a car or motorbike. There’s no direct public bus to the sand itself; the closest bus stops are on the main Sithonia ring road near Sikia or Kalamitsi, and from there it’s too far to walk comfortably in the summer heat.

Vožnja iz Thessalonikija i severnog Halkidikija

  • From Thessaloniki: Take the national road towards Nea Moudania, then follow signs for Sithonia. Drive down the Sithonia ring road past Nikiti, Agios Nikolaos and Sarti. The turn-offs for Sikia, Kriaritsi, Klimataria and Tigania are all in the southern third of the peninsula.
  • From Kassandra: You’ll first need to return via Nea Moudania and then follow the same route into Sithonia. If you’re staying around Kallithea, Solina or Kryopigi, allow extra time – at least 2.5 hours – especially in August traffic. Our Kallithea, Solina & Kryopigi: Pine Coast Guide for 2026 has more on using those resorts as a base.

Road conditions change slightly every year as tracks are graded or washed out by winter rains. Always check your route on a map app, but remember that last sections to the sand are often dirt or gravel, not asphalt. Ред вожње, радно време и руте могу да се промене без најаве. Opšti saveti za pristup ovom delu Sithonije

  • Car type: A normal car is usually fine in dry conditions if you drive slowly and carefully. Low-slung sports cars are not ideal.
  • Night driving: Avoid arriving for the first time in the dark – unlit dirt roads and sudden turns are easier in daylight.
  • Fuel and cash: Fill up in Nikiti, Sarti or Sikia and take some cash for tavernas and beach bars; card machines can be temperamental.
  • Navigation: Follow signs for Sikia, then the specific beach. Locals in Sikia are used to giving directions – don’t hesitate to ask.

Kriaritsi Beach: divlje, široko i otvoreno prema Egeju

Kriaritsi is the most “wild” feeling of the three, a long curve of pale sand and pebbly patches with almost no buildings directly behind the beach – just low dunes, scattered caravans and the odd small beach bar in high season. When the sea is calm, the water is unbelievably clear, with hues from aqua to deep blue.

Pristupni putevi za Kriaritsi

The roads to Kriaritsi can be confusing on a first visit because there are several tracks criss-crossing the hillside from the main road. Our experience over the years:

  • From Sikia: Follow signs for Kriaritsi/Kriarisi (spellings vary). The last 3–4 km are on a mix of old asphalt and dirt. After winter, potholes appear, but they are usually manageable if you go slowly.
  • Multiple coves: “Kriaritsi” is actually a small bay system with more than one cove. Some tracks lead to the central, wider part of the beach, others to smaller side coves with fewer people.
  • Best approach: If you’re unsure, follow the route that seems most used (tyre marks, more cars). Avoid steep, deeply rutted side tracks unless you have a higher-clearance vehicle.

Parkiranje na Kriaritsi

  • On-beach parking: Most people park directly behind the sand on flattened dirt areas. It’s informal but generally well spaced.
  • Arrive early in high season: On July and August weekends, the most convenient spots fill by late morning.
  • Soft sand caution: Avoid driving onto obviously soft, deep sand near the dunes; each year we see at least one car stuck.
  • Shade: There’s almost no natural shade, so park with your car facing outwards for an easy exit and bring your own umbrella or small tent.

Talasi i stanje mora na Kriaritsi

Kriaritsi faces the open sea, so conditions change quickly with the wind. Over the years we’ve noticed:

  • Calm days: When winds are light, it’s perfect for swimming and snorkelling, with visibility that often feels like a pool.
  • Windy days: Northerly or easterly winds can bring decent waves and stronger currents. It can be fun for confident swimmers but tiring for children.
  • Depth: It gets deeper faster than many family beaches in Halkidiki, so keep an eye on weaker swimmers.

Tavernas i sadržaji na Kriaritsi

Kriaritsi is less built-up than Klimataria or Tigania, but in season you usually find:

  • Seasonal beach bars or kantinas offering cold drinks, coffee, simple snacks and sometimes sunbeds/umbrellas on a small section of the beach.
  • Portable toilets or basic WC facilities near the beach bar area, but don’t expect luxury.
  • No large supermarkets or shops – bring water, fruit and snacks from Sikia or Sarti.

For a proper meal, most people either head back to Sikia village or drive to Kalamitsi, where there are several seafront tavernas with more choice and easier parking.

Ko će najviše uživati u Kriaritsi?

  • Couples and photographers – on a calm day, the colour of the sea is spectacular for photos, especially early morning or late afternoon.
  • Campers and van travellers – the wild feel and open space appeal to those who like simple, natural stays (respect no-camping signs where present).
  • Confident swimmers – if you like a bit of swell and don’t need a fully organised beach, Kriaritsi is a favourite.

Klimataria Beach: mala uvala sa porodičnim šmekom

Just a short drive north-west from Kriaritsi, Klimataria is a smaller, more sheltered bay with fine sand and vivid turquoise shallows. It’s one of the most photogenic beaches in Sithonia, especially on still mornings when the water is completely flat and the fishing boats bob just offshore.

Pristupni putevi za Klimataria

Compared with Kriaritsi and Tigania, Klimataria has one of the more straightforward access routes in this area:

  • From Sikia: Follow the signs for Klimataria/Klimataria Beach. The last part is still narrow and winding but generally in better shape than some neighbouring tracks.
  • Final descent: The final descent towards the beach is asphalt or well-graded in most seasons, but it can be steep. Use low gear and take your time.
  • Visibility: Watch for cars coming up – there are a few tight passing points.

Parkiranje na Klimataria

Because the bay is smaller and more popular, parking at Klimataria needs a bit of strategy:

  • Beachfront parking: There is limited space close to the sand, partly taken up by tavernas and organised beach sections.
  • Upper parking areas: Above the beach there are usually informal parking zones on the hillside. You may need to walk a few minutes down.
  • Timing: In peak season, aim to arrive before 10:00, especially at weekends, to avoid circling for a spot.
  • Respect local access: Don’t block driveways or access tracks to houses and small accommodations.

Talasi i voda na Klimataria

Klimataria is more sheltered than Kriaritsi, which is one reason it’s popular with families:

  • Gentle entry: The seabed is sandy and the depth increases gradually, making it easier for children.
  • Wave behaviour: On windy days there can still be waves, but the cove’s shape usually reduces their size compared to Kriaritsi or Tigania.
  • Clarity: The water is often crystal clear, especially early in the day before the sand is stirred up by swimmers and small boats.

Taverne i sadržaji na Klimataria

This is the most organised of the three beaches, so you can comfortably spend the whole day without moving your car:

  • Seafront tavernas with fresh fish, grilled meats, salads and simple Greek dishes; many have tables almost on the sand.
  • Organised sunbeds and umbrellas in front of the tavernas and beach bars, often with consumption-based use. Always ask the staff about the current arrangement.
  • Showers and toilets linked to the tavernas – basic but handy, especially if you have children.
  • Snorkelling around the rocks at the sides of the bay; bring your own mask and fins.

If you’re interested in more active water experiences, local dive centres around Sithonia can help you explore nearby reefs and rock formations. For inspiration, you can look at the dive trips and information on portoscuba.com, which shows the kind of underwater scenery you can expect in this region.

Ko će najviše voleti Klimataria?

  • Families with younger children – softer entry, more services, easy access to food and shade.
  • Casual swimmers and snorkellers – calm, clear water and rocky sides to explore.
  • Anyone wanting a “tropical” photo – the combination of bright sand, turquoise sea and small boats is very photogenic.

Tigania Beach: boho ambijent sa uvalama i stenaama

Tigania is a series of charming little coves separated by low rocks, with that same fine pale sand and intense blue-green water. Over the last decade it has become increasingly popular thanks to social media, but it still keeps a slightly bohemian, off-the-beaten-path character compared with the big resort beaches.

Pristupni putevi za Tigania

Reaching Tigania is slightly trickier than Klimataria, but more manageable than some people fear if you’re used to rural Greek roads:

  • From Sikia: Head towards Kriaritsi/Klimataria and follow signs for Tigania. Not all signs are official; you’ll also see hand-painted boards or small arrows.
  • Dirt road section: The final section is on dirt or gravel, with some bumps, dust and occasional small stones. Drive slowly, especially with a rental car.
  • Weather factor: After heavy rain, small channels can appear in the track. In a normal summer, they’re passable if you keep your wheels on the higher parts.

Parkiranje na Tigania

Because the beach is split into separate coves, parking is also spread out:

  • Hillside parking: Most cars park on flattened areas above the coves. Expect a short, sometimes steep walk down to the sand.
  • Limited beach-level spots: A few spaces are closer to the sand, often taken by early arrivals and staff from beach bars.
  • Footwear: Wear proper sandals or trainers for the walk; flip-flops can be slippery on dusty slopes.
  • Security: As with all remote beaches, don’t leave valuables visible in the car.

Talasi i voda na Tigania

Tigania is more exposed than Klimataria but slightly less wild than Kriaritsi, depending on the day:

  • Calm coves: The small bays and rocks help break the waves, so one cove may be calmer than another. If the first one is rough, check the next.
  • Strong sun: The reflection off the pale sand and rocks makes the water look extra bright – but also makes the sun feel more intense, so bring good sun protection.
  • Depth and seabed: Mostly sandy with some rocky patches near the sides, ideal for snorkelling but watch your footing.

Tavernas i sadržaji na Tigania

Tigania has developed a small but lively beach scene in recent years:

  • Beach bars with music, drinks and some light food; expect a relaxed vibe rather than loud clubbing.
  • Sunbeds and umbrellas concentrated in certain coves, leaving other areas freer for those who prefer their own towels and shade.
  • Basic facilities like toilets and showers, usually tied to the beach bars. Not luxurious, but enough for a full beach day.
  • No big shops – bring extras like fruit, water and snacks from Sikia or Sarti.

Ko će najviše uživati u Tigania?

  • Young couples and groups of friends – a bit of a “hidden beach” feel, with music and a social atmosphere in summer.
  • Photo lovers – the little coves, rocks and bright water make for great shots.
  • People who like a mix of natural and organised – you can choose between the livelier bar areas and quieter corners.

Kada posetiti: sezona, gužve i vetar

These southern Sithonia beaches change character a lot through the season. Our long-term observations:

  • May–June: Water is cooler but very clear; fewer people, easier parking and softer light for photos. Roads may be a bit rough after winter but are usually passable.
  • July–August: Peak season – expect more cars on the dirt tracks, fuller parking and busier tavernas. Sea is warm, but windier days can bring waves.
  • September: A favourite month for many locals – warm water, slightly fewer crowds, and often calmer winds than mid-summer.
  • October (early): Weather can still be good, but some beach bars and tavernas start closing. Always check ahead if you rely on services.

Praktični saveti za parkiranje, pristup i izbegavanje stresa

Vozački saveti iz lokalne perspektive

  • Start early: Leave your base before 09:00, especially from further north in Sithonia or from Kassandra, to enjoy calmer roads and easier parking.
  • Check the wind forecast: Use a reliable weather app the night before. If strong winds are forecast from the east or north-east, be ready for waves.
  • Alternate plans: If the roads or waves feel too much, Kalamitsi Beach nearby offers easier access, more parking and a more sheltered bay.
  • Rental car care: Drive slowly on gravel to protect tyres and undercarriage; it also reduces dust for those walking nearby.

Etiquette parkiranja i bezbednost

  • Don’t block the way: Always leave enough space for other cars to pass, especially where the track narrows.
  • Handbrake and gear: On slopes, park in gear (or “Park” in automatics) with the handbrake firmly set and wheels turned slightly towards the hill.
  • Heat management: In high summer, crack windows slightly and use a sunshade to avoid returning to an oven-like car.

Hrana, voda i sadržaji: šta očekivati

Compared with big resorts, these beaches have a more limited, seasonal infrastructure. Our advice after many visits:

  • Always bring extra water: Even if you plan to use tavernas or beach bars, have spare bottles in the car – especially in July and August.
  • Snacks and basics: Pick up fruit, nuts, sandwiches and any special items (baby food, gluten-free snacks) in Sikia, Sarti, Nikiti or Agios Nikolaos before driving south.
  • Cash and cards: Most tavernas now accept cards, but it’s still wise to carry some cash in case of network issues.
  • Toilets and showers: Expect basic facilities connected to beach bars and tavernas rather than public changing rooms.

If you want a fully equipped base with supermarkets, bakeries and evening promenades, consider staying further north and visiting these beaches as day trips. Areas like Nikiti, Vourvourou and Ormos Panagias offer that balance between comfort and access to wild coves.

Spajanje „tropskih” plaža sa jedrenjem i izletima brodom

Seeing this coastline from the water gives you a completely different perspective – the colours are even more intense and you can access small coves that are hard to reach by land. From ports like Nikiti, Ormos Panagias and Neos Marmaras, you can join day sailing trips that explore parts of the Sithonia coast and, in some cases, the Athos coast.

If you’re thinking about chartering a yacht or joining a small-group sailing day, have a look at yachts.holiday for an idea of itineraries and boat types available in the region. Slobodan deo plaže, ležaljke i vaš suncobran

One of the nice things about this part of Sithonia is that you can still find stretches of sand without compulsory sunbed use, especially if you walk a little away from the busiest central sections. That said, in peak season the organised parts grow each year.

  • Bring your own shade: A simple beach umbrella or pop-up tent gives you flexibility to pick quieter corners.
  • Respect set-ups: Don’t place your towel directly in front of someone’s paid sunbed line; leave a corridor to the sea.
  • Free sections: At all three beaches there are usually parts of the shore without sunbeds, especially near the ends of the coves or between them.

For more ideas on where in Halkidiki you can enjoy the sea without obligatory sunbed use, see our guide to Free Beaches in Halkidiki without Obligatory Sunbeds in 2026.

Zalazak sunca, fotografija i taj „tropski” izgled

Although these beaches face mostly east and south-east, you can still enjoy beautiful light, especially:

  • Early morning: Soft light, almost empty beaches and very clear water – perfect for photographers.
  • Late afternoon: Warmer tones on the sand and rocks, with the sun moving behind the hills.
  • Golden hour elsewhere: For classic sunset shots over the sea, you might combine a daytime visit here with an evening at one of Halkidiki’s west-facing beaches. Our guide to the Best Sunset Beaches in Halkidiki for Golden-Hour Photos in 2026 has our favourite spots.

Vredi li vožnja? Iskreni plusi i minusi

What we love about Kriaritsi, Klimataria and Tigania

  • Extra-clear water and bright sand that really do feel more “tropical” than many other Greek beaches.
  • Less built-up surroundings – no long lines of hotels directly behind the sand.
  • Choice of moods: wilder and more open at Kriaritsi, cosy and family-friendly at Klimataria, and boho/social at Tigania.
  • Good day-trip potential from all over Sithonia if you start early.

What to consider before you go

  • Access roads: Last sections are dirt or narrow; not everyone enjoys this kind of drive.
  • Parking stress in August: Especially at weekends and at Klimataria/Tigania, where space is tighter.
  • Waves and depth: On windy days, Kriaritsi and Tigania are not ideal for weak swimmers or very small children.
  • Limited services: No big supermarkets or pharmacies right at the beach; you need to plan a little.

Planirajte dan kao lokalci

After two decades of coming back to these beaches, this is how we usually structure a relaxed day:

  • Early departure: Leave your base after a quick breakfast, aiming to arrive on the coast by 09:30–10:00.
  • First swim and photos: Start at Kriaritsi or Tigania while the light is soft and the water calm.
  • Lunch at Klimataria: Head to Klimataria for a shaded lunch at a taverna, with a more protected swim afterwards.
  • Afternoon rest: Either stay put in Klimataria or return to your base for an evening stroll in a livelier resort.
